And now let’s start discovering together the best beaches in Puglia!
Best beaches in Puglia: Monopoli
Monopoli coves (especially those south of Monopoli) are among the most beautiful in all of Puglia. If you have time, we recommend you visit several of them, or if the weather is not very hot and you feel fit, you can even walk the rocky coast to the south, maybe starting from Cala Paradiso and stop at each cove you meet to swim. In addition to the coves, now almost all furnished, you will also find (marine and land) caves, pine forests, and Mediterranean scrub. It is difficult to rank the best-furnished beaches in Monopoli, but let’s try:
Cala Paradiso
A pretty sand bay equipped with umbrellas, beach volley, and beach soccer fields. There is also is a restaurant with a pizzeria and bar with some snacks with an evening disco under the stars. Very popular with young people
Calamarena
Some describe this stretch of coastline are “intact” and “wild”. The locals love it, but don’t expect to find sand. Only rock, grass, good food and a beautiful vibe. Sunbeds and umbrellas to rent and a bar with a menu of typical Apulian dishes. If you love simplicity and nature, this beach is for you.
Cala Cerasa
Right next to Calamarena, this beach club has the same characteristics: no sand and access to the sea from a cove. The sea is enchanting and crystalline, but on the other hand, it is difficult to find a beach in Monopoli with an ugly sea. This terraced beach club is very popular with locals in their thirties and is furnished in an alternative/vintage style, like Lullabay in Ostuni. In the evening there are concerts and music.
Lido Marzà
An exclusive beach overlooking a small beach that houses a natural swimming pool with crystal clear water. An oasis of peace and relaxation surrounded by nature. The umbrellas and sunbeds for rent are located on the lawn overlooking the cove. There is also a high standard restaurant.
Porto Ghiacciolo
Porto Ghiacciolo is a cove with a sea that deserves plenty of swimming and diving. Here the water, thanks to the continuous cold currents, is always very clean and clear (and cold). Furthermore, near the cove stands the Abbey of Santo Stefano, which creates a beautiful setting. The lido has a bar/restaurant and music all day. Particularly suitable for families.
Cala Diavolo
Sandy and rocky beach with low sea bottom with lots of music, lots of drinks, lots of young people.
Best beaches in Puglia: Polignano a Mare
Polignano a Mare does not offer sandy beaches, except for some small coves, but it is an excellent destination for those who have children who love diving. The famous beach that can be seen looking out from the historic center of Polignano a Mare, Lama Monachile, is really very crowded, so apart from the low season, we do not recommend visiting it. Here are some other great options:
Cala San Giovanni Beach Club
2018 Blue Flag beach. A beach of fine golden sand set in a natural inlet, surrounded by a lush pine forest and caves carved out by time. Very close you will find excellent restaurants, the area of the Abbey of San Vito and the boarding docks for boat tours.
Coco Beach Club
2012 Blue flag beach. Exclusive sandless beach with all comforts. Access to the sea is via the pier and ladder. They also organize private parties and weddings.
Best beaches in Puglia: Ostuni
The stretch of coast that goes from Savelletri to Torre Canne is completely rocky, so there are no beaches in this area, but if you are looking for fish restaurants where you can eat freshly opened sea urchins on a table overlooking the sea, in this area you will find many of them. From Torre Canne going towards Ostuni begins a stretch of sandy coast. The first stretch, closest to Torre Canne, is dotted with very popular and crowded beaches so we don’t feel to recommend it. Going further towards Ostuni you will meet the Dune Costiere National Park, which boasts beautiful wild beaches and few beach clubs. From the area called Pilone onwards there are furnished beaches worthy of note.
Lido Bosco Verde
A very popular beach club with locals. Sandy beach with dunes and crystal clear sea and one of the most popular fish restaurants in the area. Music in the evening for dancing.
Lullabay
LullaBay is nestled among the splendid dunes of the Ostuni Adriatic coast and is a space with a multifaceted soul and attention to detail that has taken as its inspiration the best festivals in the world. Inside, the spaces mix tropical styles with vintage elements in a recycling culture from which comes out a refined hippie culture style.
Viar,
From the beautiful beach to the wellness area, from the café-restaurant with open kitchen to the sports fields for beach soccer, volleyball, tennis, and football, and then the swimming pool which, at sunset, hosts an unforgettable pool party. All these elements make it an ideal beach club for families and children.
White Ostuni
Probably the most exclusive beach club in the Ostuni marina. Bar, restaurant, events sand beach, and a lot of entertainment.
Guna
An exclusive beach club in the middle of the Mediterranean scrub, a splendid stretch of fine sand surrounded by centuries-old dunes, an enchanting beach where you can walk to the Torre Guaceto reserve. Here you will find a natural terrace in English lawn, white curtains, private gazebos, a lounge area under the trees, a pavilion reserved for Wellness, and also a GYM area, cycle tours, golf driving range, and dog beach.
Best beaches in Puglia – The Ionian side
Cohiba 59
In Marina di Pulsano. Golden sand, crystal clear sea, and very comfortable sunbeds. Baby club, beach volley fields, spinning, and solarium. Restaurant, bar, pizzeria, and ice cream shop.
Bahia del Sol
In Marina di Lizzano, it is certainly one of the most popular and well-equipped beach clubs in the Ionian side for those who want to experience the summer season full of fun and sport, but also for those who love sunbathing on the beach and want to relax under the umbrella. Ideal for families.
Lido Posto 9
In Campomarino, this is a beach club with bar and restaurant completely immersed in the Mediterranean scrub among junipers, acacias, tamarisks and sand dunes that give the beach a natural view of the blue and crystalline sea.
The total-white color of the club contrasts with the warm colors of summer creating a welcoming and harmonious environment for its guests. The renowned restaurant with terrace bar serves excellent drinks accompanied by the best fish dishes of the Ionian Sea.
