June is the month when Puglia definitely wakes up. The schools close, the locals start again to populate the towns alleys and tourists are more and more. Evenings are now hot and the days are the longest and brightest of the year. So people are more and more willing to walk in the alleys of the beautiful historic centers in search of a good ice cream or a purchase at a market stall.
June is also the month when the festivals and summer holidays begin. Two important patronal festivities, San Giovanni and Sant’Antonio take place this month and many Apulian villages and towns celebrate this recurrence.

RED BULL CLIFF DIVING SHOW in Polignano a Mare (June 2nd)
The world diving championship comes back once again to Puglia, after having hosted the 2018 final. It is a relationship that has been going on for years, and that it is not likely to stop: the cliff of Lama Monachile, in Polignano a Mare is too attractive for the world champions of great heights diving. The appointment is for June 2, the feast day of the Italian Republic.
MEDIMEX in Taranto (June 6th – 9th)
From 6 to 9 June 2019 in Taranto will take place Medimex, a reference event for the Italian music that wants to make connections with the international scene, which will celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Woodstock, the greatest musical event of all time. In those four days the professional operators will be able to meet festival directors, agency managers, record labels, international stakeholders, and will be take part many appointments aimed at the general public: author’s meetings, screenings, DJ sets, exhibitions, installations, a vinyl market as well as numerous concerts and showcases. Among the artists who will perform, Patti Smith, The Editors and Cigarettes After Sex.
SAGRA DELLA CILIEGIA FERROVIA in Turi (June 7th – 9th)
Ruby red, heart-shaped and with a sweet taste, the Ferrovia Cherry is the protagonist of this festival which, for years, animates the streets of the historic center of Turi in June. A cultural and gastronomic event that will make you discover fascinating nuances of the Apulian territory. Turi, the land of the Ferrovia Cherry, comes alive with live music, folk songs and dances, street artists, shows, art and craft shows but above all offers the opportunity to taste typical local products.
ROSEXPO in Lecce (June 22nd – 23rd)
On June 22nd and 23rd in Carlo V Castel of Lecce will take place the sixth edition of ROSÉXPO, the International Exhibition of Rose Wines: wine, food, art, music, fashion, photo shooting, seminars and tastings in partnership with Slow Wine and the Italian Sommelier Association. Rosé wines for tasting from all over the world.
SAN GIOVANNI NIGHT in Ostuni (June 23rd)
The White Town celebrates San Giovanni Night, this year included in the Festa della Musica that takes place from 21st to 23rd June. Throughout the center from 10 PM, there will be shows and street performers until 1 AM, when the bright balloons will be launched to the sky.
